How much weight can I lose?
Research has shown that people lose an average of 14.9% of their body weight in 68 weeks on Wegovy.
In a double-blind trial the mean change in body weight from baseline to week 68 was -14.9% in the semaglutide (Wegovy) group as compared with -2.4% with placebo. 2.4 mg of semaglutide once weekly plus lifestyle intervention was associated with sustained, clinically relevant reduction in body weight.
How do I take Wegovy?
Wegovy is a weekly injection administered with a gradual dosage escalation
Patients start with a 0.25mg once-weekly dose for the initial 4 weeks, progressively advancing until they reach the maintenance dose of 2.4 mg once weekly starting from week 17 onwards. This incremental adjustment is crucial as it mitigates the likelihood of side effects. If any side effects occur, they are predominantly encountered during the dose escalation phase and typically reduce over time.
How does Wegovy work?
Wegovy regulates appetite, cuts cravings, and reduces calories consumed
Wegovy's active ingredient, semaglutide, is categorised as a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics a hormone naturally produced by the body called glucagon like peptide 1 (GLP-1). This hormone plays a pivotal role in appetite regulation, influencing the sensation of fullness.
By replicating this hormone, Wegovy targets receptors in the brain responsible for appetite control. This induces a heightened feeling of fullness and a reduced sense of hunger, diminishing cravings for food. When integrated with a calorie-controlled diet and increased physical activity, this approach facilitates effective weight loss.

Is Wegovy available in the UK?
Wegovy has been approved for weight loss and weight management in the UK. However, you need to meet eligibility criteria and obtain a prescription in order to buy Wegovy in the UK as it is not available over the counter.
How does it work?
Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Wegovy pens of all strengths, is in a category of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists. In short, GLP-1 medications mimic a natural hormone that makes you feel fuller for longer, experience fewer cravings, and ultimately consume fewer calories.
Wegovy is intended to be used alongside a healthy, balanced diet and increased physical activity. This combination has been shown to lead to significant weight loss in many research trials, as well as in the real world over the last few years. At Habitual we've helped thousands of patients achieve and sustain weight loss through the use of Wegovy and our app-based behavioural coaching.
How do I take Wegovy?
Wegovy is administered with a gradual dosage escalation over a 16-week period. Patients start with a 0.25mg once-weekly dose for the initial 4 weeks, progressively advancing until they reach the maintenance dose of 2.4 mg once weekly starting from week 17 onwards. This incremental adjustment is crucial as it mitigates the likelihood of side effects. If any side effects occur, they are predominantly encountered during the dose-escalation phase and typically reduce over time
Is Wegovy different to Ozempic?
Wegovy shares the exact active ingredient as Ozempic and is manufactured by the same company. The primary distinction lies in their respective licenses: Ozempic is approved for diabetes, whereas Wegovy is specifically licensed in the UK for weight loss. In addition, Wegovy is available in two higher strengths than Ozempic, 1.7mg and 2.4mg.
What are the side effects?
